Tansey Obituary

Transcription of Alfred C. Tannery Obituary

Alfred C. Tansey was born near River_______ (page is torn but probably Riverside, Washington County, Iowa) October 27, 1858, departed this _______ at Manhattan, Kans., Sept. 14, 1934 being 75 years, 10 months, and 18 days of age.  Was united in marriage to Eliza J. Meeks at Washington, Iowa, on Sept. 2nd, 1884, who preceded him in death on Sept. 21st 1910.  To this union four children were born one of whom died in infancy.  One daughter, Mrs. Chas. Custer, who departed this life on March 7, 1921, Ray A. Tansey, of Salem, Oregon, John A. Tansey, of Pawnee, who survive him.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, 3 sisters, Mrs. Kate Steele, of Iowa City, IA., Mrs. Haura McBride, of Washington, IA., and Mrs. Ellen Ward, of Manhattan, Kansas, besides a host of friends and relatives.

He was again united in marriage in 19024 to Mrs. Sarah J. Rogers of Pawnee, Okla.

He lived in Washington Co., Iowa, until 1901 when he with his family moved to Pawnee Co., Okla., where he has since resided.  He had been in poor health for the last 2 years, but died rather suddenly at the home of his sister in Manhattan, where he had been visiting.  He has made his home the last 6 mo. With his sons and his sister at Manhattan, Kansas.  Early in life he united with the U. B. Church at Riverside, IA., and was a member of that church at the time of his death.  Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the M.E. church in Pawnee.  Rev. C. P. Simpson conducted the services.  Burial was made in Highland Cemetery.
